Employment: Part‑time · Work mode: Hybrid / On‑site · Posted:
Role overview
We’re looking for an experienced hardware‑focused product designer to turn beekeeper insights into manufacturable, user‑friendly hive components and accessories. No web/app design — this role is all about physical product and integration with electronics.
What you’ll do
Design enclosures and mechanical parts for BeeSync smart hives and peripherals.
Integrate PCBs, sensors, antennas, and wiring with thoughtful internal layouts.
Own ergonomics and field handling: assembly, inspection, maintenance flows.
Create protective, assembly‑friendly packaging and shipping solutions.
3D model and simulate concepts (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Rhino, Blender).
Prototype quickly; test in field with beekeepers; iterate from real feedback.
Collaborate with manufacturing to meet cost, durability, and tolerance targets.
What we’re looking for
3+ years in industrial/product design with a hardware focus.
Fluency in 3D CAD and basic simulation; excellent drawing/spec packages.
Understanding of plastics/woods/metals, sealing, fasteners, and coatings.
Experience designing around electronics and thermal/EMI considerations.
Bonus: packaging design, IP ratings, DFM/DFA, sustainability practices.
